- Water you doing? Hygroscopic brake fluid, explained.November 15, 2016
Tucson has some of the driest air in the country – our humidity is rarely over 10%, which allows for the prevalence of dust and pollen particles. The good news is that your car’s engine air filter and cabin air filter keep those contaminants out of your engine and your sinuses, respectively. The bad news is that those filters are relatively quick to get clogged and bog down the efficiency of the systems they are designed to protect.
For example, a dirty air filter can reduce your fuel economy and cause sluggish performance as your engine struggles to get air to aid in the combustion process.
A clogged cabin air filter causes your blower motor to overwork, overheat, and suffer from premature failure. Not to mention the fact that impeded airflow requires you to turn your AC up higher, having yet another negative impact on your fuel economy.
BRAKEmax technicians are happy to check your air filter as a part of our 22-point Comprehensive Vehicle Inspection. It’s not a difficult thing to replace for the most part, but we are here to help you do any maintenance that you cannot (or do not want to) do.
